Early intervention programmes are extremely beneficial for children with developmental delay. This involves a combination of the following therapies and support services for children and their families addressing fine and gross motor skills, sensory integration, social and emotional skills and daily routine skills.
Speech Therapy:
Our speech Therapy team is here to help children develop both verbal and non-verbal communication skills. Our therapists focus on the areas of basic communication, receptive language, expressive language, social communication and play skills designed for each individual child depending on their needs and capabilities.
Pediatric Occupational Therapy:
Pediatric Occupational Therapy is focused on helping infants and young children achieve their physical milestones in order to gain more independence at home, at play and later on in school. Physical therapy addresses concerns over strength, balance, motor skills and coordination. If a child has delays in their development, early intervention is key to ensure that we are able to work with the child through the crucial stages of gross motor skills, fine motor skills and language development.
Occupational Therapy:
Occupational Therapy teaches children how to be as independent as possible in their daily activities. The primary focus is on helping children develop the abilities necessary for play, self-care, learning, school performance, community skills and socializing. This therapy centers on self regulation, sensory processing, and pays specific attention to the activities, fine motor skills, coordination and strength exercises needed to complete routines of daily living, and is accomplished by building on the child’s core strength. Our occupational therapist will take the child through a pre-planned session of physical exercises focused on play and fun.
Group Therapy:
Group therapy provides children a safe environment to practice skills and techniques learned in individual sessions.
Early Intervention Program:
Early intervention is a systematic program of therapy, exercises and activities designed to address developmental delays that may be experienced by children.
